The following video is a brief glimpse of the awesomeness I experienced during the Cinco de Mayo Social Media Flight in 2011. Tech Sgt. Mark Orders-Woempner asked me to round-up a few social media peeps, and I was honored to help. It was a tremendous experience.

Here is a portion of the pre-flight email from Tech Sgt. Mark that describes the social media flight succinctly:

“… The highlight of the day will be a flight aboard a KC-135R Stratotanker during an actual aerial refueling mission. You will have the opportunity to visit the “boom pod” and witness the actual in-flight refueling as well as tour the rest of the aircraft to talk with our aircrew members…”
“… The activities on 5 May 2011 will give you a rare insight into the 434th Air Refueling Wing and its day-to-day mission. As the only federal Air Force installation in Indiana, and as one of the area’s largest employers, Grissom Air Reserve Base plays a key role in the state and the Midwest ”

Thanks to all who serve in the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom Air Base in North-Central Indiana.

The video was taken with a flip-cam. The raw footage and some other of my flip-cam files were misplaced for several months due to theft — Someone stole my flip-cam, and someone else stole my ability to figure out how to access my files on the flip-cam site without plugging the cam into the USB.  d’ oh!
